TWO men have died in a horrific fiery high-speed traffic crash on Perth’s Riverside Drive, just east of the city early today.
The pair, who have yet to be identified, were travelling in a car, believed to be a VE Holden Commodore, along Riverside Drive about 1am (WST) when it left the road and slammed into a large palm tree and caught fire.
The car was torn apart on impact.
The driver was incinerated in his seat while a passenger was thrown from the car and died at the scene.
Police Major crash squad is investigating the crash, which happened near the intersection of Plain St and Riverside Drive.
Riverside Drive remains closed from Plain St to the Causeway.
Traffic is being diverted via Plain St and Adelaide Terrace.
Motorists should avoid the area and seek an alternative route.
