Two more teens, including a 13-year-old boy, have been charged over the rape, robbery and assault of a Canadian backpacker in Broome.

The 22-year-old female tourist was allegedly confronted by a gang of four youths as she walked home from Murphy’s Bar in the Kimberley town at about 2am on Wednesday.

Police say a woman in the gang threatened the victim with a broken bottle, before punching and pushing her to the ground, fracturing her cheek, while another man stole her handbag.

The victim then chased after the four to try to recover her passport and other belongings when she was dragged into a nearby park and allegedly repeatedly raped and assaulted.

A passing motorist took the victim to Broome Hospital, where she was admitted and later released.

Two 18-year-olds, Earvin Jared Hensley Dimer and Agnes Violet Oliver, were arrested the day after the incident and appeared in Broome Magistrates Court on Thursday morning, both charged with three counts of aggravated sexual penetration and one count of aggravated robbery.

A police prosecutor told the court during the pair’s appearance that the group had laughed and tried to take photographs during their attack.

Dimer and Oliver were remanded in custody to appear again on October 7.

The other two teenagers, who have not been named, were arrested and charged with the same offences on Thursday night.

They were also remanded to appear on October 7.
