UK EDL leading racist rally in Denmark

Members of racist groups from Russia, Finland, France, Germany, Norway, Poland, Romania, and Sweden are attending the protest that is led by the EDL thugs in Denmark’s second largest city, Aarhus.

The demonstration was considered by EDL as the “first proper European event,” against the spread of Islam in the European nations and would set up “an anti-Islamic alliance” among the far-right groups across the continent.

Thousands of anti-racism activists are also expected to stage a counter protest in Aarhus, with the residents fearing the far-rights members would clash with the anti-racists.

The far-right demonstration comes only three-weeks ahead of the long-awaited trial of Norway mass-killer Anders Breivik, who was an early supporter of the EDL and attended a rally organized by the far-right extremist hooligans in Newcastle in May 2010 – and another in London.

Nottingham University’s Matthew Goodwin, an expert on racist groups, stressed that the joint protest of the far-right groups would be strategically significant. “What we are seeing here for the first time in British political history is an anti-Muslim far-right organization taking the lead in trying to mobilize pan-European opposition to Islam,” he said.

Unite Against Fascism’s (UAF) secretary Weyman Bennett said that the Euro-leagues would be a new danger for the continent, as people could still remember that the Norwegian Defense League created Breivik.

“The growth of a Euro-league in a time of economic crisis threatens to resurrect fascist street armies such as those that destroyed European democracies in the 1930s.

“The development of this network allows fascists and right-wing populists to share ideas, finance and experience in a way that should worry us all,” Bennett also said.
