UK warmongering on Iran slammed

In a letter to the British premier on Monday May 21,the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) warned the Coalition government against engaging in or supporting an illegal military strike against Iran, ahead of upcoming round of negotiations between the Islamic Republic and the P5+1.

“The lessons of both Iraq and Afghanistan show that there cannot be a military solution to complex regional problems – death and destruction is not the answer,” said CND general secretary Kate Hudson.

“Genuine dialogue and diplomacy on the basis of equality and respect is the only way forward.”

Earlier this month, Cameron accused Iran of developing nuclear missiles capable of hitting London during a speech at the lower house of the British parliament, joining the US and Israeli regime in their Iranophobia tirade.

Furthermore, condemning any tough action against Iran as “unlawful,” Phil Shiner of Public Interest Lawyers said, “The international community requires the peaceful resolution of conflicts by all states at all times.”

Meanwhile, today the CND attacked the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) for new spending on design contracts for a new generation of nuclear-armed submarines.

“What are the public to think? We are being told that there isn’t enough money for public services while the government throws £350 million from taxpayers at designs for nuclear-armed submarines,” Hudson said.
