Vic man charged with lighting bushfires

A 46-year-old Melbourne man has been charged with multiple counts of lighting bushfires.

The Upwey man faces 17 counts of intentionally causing a bushfire, related to fires started in Upwey and Tecoma in Melbourne’s Dandenong Ranges.

The offences date back to July 2011.

The man has appeared before an out-of-sessions court hearing and was remanded in custody to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
