Warsaw biennial awards Iran artist

Mahdian received the ICOGRADA Excellence Award which is granted by the International Council of Graphic Design Associations to honor a specific piece or a body of work, and to support the promotion of graphic design and professional graphic designers.

This year’s event awarded artists in Ideological Posters, Culture Posters, Advertising Posters, Golden Debut and EURO 2012 categories.

Takashi Akiyama (Japan), Michał Batory (France/Poland), Anthon Beeke (Netherlands), Marta Granados (Colombia), Igor Gurovich (Russia), Bojidar Ikonomov (Bulgaria), Piotr Kunce (Poland) and Alain Weill (France) judged international participants of the 23rd edition.

Works by Iranian artists Reza Babajani, Maryam Enayati, Leila Miri, Ladan Rezaei, and Hamed Mehravaran were showcased at the A, B and C Category sections of the event along with works from the Netherlands, Japan, France, Poland, Russia and Bulgaria.

The Warsaw International Poster Biennale was inaugurated in 1966. The idea of a periodic international review in the field of poster art was first proposed by Polish graphic designers in the beginning of 1960s.

The 23rd Warsaw International Poster Biennial kicked off on June 2, 2012 and will run until September 16.
