‘West pressure on Iran over resistance’

“The US and Israeli threats against Iran are not over Tehran’s peaceful nuclear activities, rather, the US and the West are in fact after breaking down the model of resistance inspired by the Islamic Republic of Iran in the region,” said Sheikh Naim Qassem on Thursday.

He further said that Israel’s continuous threats against Iran are also aimed at diverting attention from Tel Aviv’s crimes against Palestinians, the regime’s desecration of East al-Quds (Jerusalem) and holy sites, as well as Israel’s violation of human rights.

He, however, said Iran is capable of confronting the West’s threats and pressure since it enjoys the support of its friends and its people, and is blessed with the wise instructions of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Referring to the US policies to spread domination in the Middle East, the Hezbollah senior official said Washington has fomented tension and instability in the region in order to strengthen Israel against Islamic countries.

He said the US was providing military aid to Israel to make sure that the regional states were in a weak position against the Israeli regime.

He described Israel as the source of all tensions and problems in the Middle East, urging the global community to shift focus on the Israeli regime as the main problem of the region.

The comments by Sheikh Qassem come as new data recently showed that Washington has given more than 115 billion dollars in financial aid to Israel over the years.

According to a report published by the Congressional Research Service, more than 67 billion dollars of Washington’s aid to Israel has been for military purposes.

The astonishing data in the report also reveal the US has allocated 3.1 billion dollars in military aid to Israel for 2012 alone.
