Growing up in the post-war era (after the Second World War), I never expected to live in the strange Kafkaesque world that exists today. The US government can assassinate any US citizen that the executive branch thinks could possibly be a “threat” to the US government, or throw the hapless citizen into a dungeon for the rest of his or her life without presenting any evidence to a court or obtaining a conviction of any crime, or send the “threat” to a puppet foreign state to be tortured until the “threat” confesses to a crime that never occurred or dies at the hands of “freedom and democracy” while professing innocence.

It has never been revealed how a single citizen, or any number thereof, could possibly comprise a threat to a government that has a trillion plus dollars to spend each year on security and weapons, the world’s largest navy and air force, 700 plus military bases across the world, large numbers of nuclear weapons, 16 intelligence agencies plus the intelligence agencies of its NATO puppet states and the intelligence service of Israel.

Nevertheless, air travelers are subjected to porno-scanning and sexual groping. Cars traveling on Interstate highways can expect to be stopped, with traffic backed up for miles, while Homeland Security and the federalized state or local police conduct searches.

I witnessed one such warrantless search on Easter Sunday. The south bound lanes of I-185 heading into Columbus, Georgia, were at a standstill while black SUV and police car lights flashed. US citizens were treated by “security” forces that they finance as if they were “terrorists” or “domestic extremists,” another undefined class of Americans devoid of constitutional protections.

These events are Kafkaesque in themselves, but they are ever more so when one considers that these extraordinary violations of the US Constitution fail to be overturned in the Supreme Court. Apparently, American citizens lack standing to defend their civil liberties.

Yet, ObamaCare is before the US Supreme Court. The conservative majority might now utilize the “judicial activism” for which conservatives have criticized liberals. Hypocrisy should no longer surprise us. However, the fight over ObamaCare is not worth five cents.

It is extraordinary that “liberals,” “progressives,” “Democrats,” whatever they are, are defending a “health program” that uses public monies to pay private insurance companies and that raises the cost of health care.

Americans have been brainwashed that “a single-payer system is unaffordable” because it is “socialized medicine.” Despite this propaganda, accepted by many Americans, European countries manage to afford single-payer systems. Health care is not a stress, a trauma, an unaffordable expense for European populations. Among the Western Civilized Nations, only the richest, the US, has no universal health care.

The American health care system is the most expensive of all on earth. The reason for the extraordinary expense is the multiple of entities that must make profits. The private doctors must make profits. The private testing centers must make profits.The private specialists who receive the referrals from general practitioners must make profits. The private hospitals must make profits. The private insurance companies must make profits. The profits are a huge cost of health care.

On top of these profits come the costs of preventing and combatting fraud. Because private insurance companies resist paying and Medicare pays a small fraction of the medical charges, private health care providers charge as much as they possibly can, knowing that the payments will be cut to the bone. But a billing mistake of even $300 can bankrupt a health care provider from legal expenses defending him/her self from fraud accusations.

The beauty of a single-payer system is that it takes the profits out of the system. No one has to make profits. Wall Street cannot threaten insurance companies and private health care companies with being taken over because their profits are too low. No health-provider in a single-payer system has to worry about being displaced in a takeover organized by Wall Street because the profits are too low.

Because a single-payer system eliminates the profits that drive up the costs, Wall Street, Insurance companies, and “free market economists” hate a “socialized” medical care system. They prefer a socialized “private” health care system in which public monies flow into private insurance companies.

To make the costs as high as possible, conservatives and the private insurance companies devised ObamaCare. The bill was written by conservative think tanks and the private insurance companies. What the “socialistic” ObamaCare bill does is to take income taxes paid by citizens and use the taxes to subsidize the private medical premiums charges by private health care providers in order to provide “private” health care to US citizens who cannot afford it.

The extremely high costs of ObamaCare is not “socialistic medicine.” ObamaCare is high-cost privatized medicine that guarantees billions of dollars in profits to private insurance companies.

It remains to be seen whether such a ridiculous health care scheme, nowhere extant on earth except in Romney’s Massachusetts, will provide health care or just private profits.

Does this mean the privatize-everything Austrian Schoolers at the Daily Bell will now be accusing Paul Craig Roberts of being part of an “elite psyop”?
Normally I agree with Roberts, and I understand his point here about the egregiously greedy profits reaped from patients. Roberts speaks in theory to present a comforting scenario. But in practice, statistics show a lesser degree of service and long waits for procedures and surgeries in the countries with socialized medicine. Mortality rates are increased, particularly for the elderly. Proponents of Obamacare, like Ezekiel Emanuel, even speak of the elderly having “a duty to die and not be a burden to society.” They will “ration” medical care based on how valuable a patient is to the state apparatus, their productivity and assets in the tax base and corporate structures. They make no secret of this. The handicapped, the dissident, and children can also expect reduced care. The point of Obamacare is to save money by denying healthcare and increasing mortality rates to eliminate people receiving Social Security, Disability, Medicare and Medicaid benefits. Of course, Congress has looted such funds repeatedly, which is why there is a crisis about these “unfunded” programs and seniors being demonized for seeking “entitlements”! When people are forced to pay into a program for about 50 years, they are entitled to get what they paid for! But then, we have the best Congress money can buy. Live free or die trying. Uncle Sam is a psychopath!

I’m not going to read it.
I’m not going to participate knowingly.
This country has had sick and injured people and dealt with them since the beginning.
We did fine without ObamaCare in the past.

Would you believe I read it last year? Like I keep saying, they will rule it constitutional because they will use the legal definitions of it. It cannot and is not legal to impose on Americans but, federal and public officers, “persons” and other such words……

I can’t reference the sections by number any longer as, I got other shit to do but, it’s based in fraud so, screw it. THEY have to PROVE it applies to you and, they can’t. That is to say, they will do any thing they can to keep from admitting it, including lie. So happens, in the IRC, it tells you out right that its agents may lie and it is your own fault if you don’t know the code.

WHY DO I WANT TO GET RIPPED – OFF PAYING FOR OBAMACARE WHEN I HAVE NO INTENTION OF USING IT.

I will travel to a FOREIGN COUNTRY and get whatever I need done there — (a by-pass, a triple by-pass or any hip or anything else replacement, anything for any cancer – radiation, surgery or chemo, anything diabetes related, name it, anything).

Only thing you may need US healthcare for is an Emergency. Once they patch you up in the ER room you are good to hop your flight and get done whatever you need done abroad at ONE TENTH THE COST.

So obviously this article is entirely correct. If other countries can afford to do all the same stuff we do here at such steep discount then its NOT THE MEDICINE AND TREATMENT ITSELF THAT IS HYPER-INFLATED. IT IS THE SYSTEM.

Only thing you may not be able to do in a foreign country as readily as here in the US healthcare system is sue in the event of malpractice. Their track record of successful treatment allows me to not concern myself with that issue. And it is the LAWYERS who sue and walk-away with multi-million $$ rewards half of which they may keep for themselves or at least a fourth that makes insurance so expensive. IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES LAWYERS DO NOT WALK OFF THAT KIND OF CASH.

When you buy car insurance in California which is mandatory you still have an option of putting 35k into an account that has designation as FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. Then you can renew your registration every year at the DMV and not have to provide proof of having ANY insurance (you are self-insured).

If the Supreme Court does not throw out the ‘Individual Mandate’ then at the very least a citizen should have the right to their own FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY and opt – out of nanny-state healthcare just like with car insurance. (free-choice)

They call this thing the AFFORDABLE Healthcare Act !!

What do they mean by AFFORDABLE ???? Anyone know ???? Say you make 40 – 60k a year how much is it costing you ???? (half the take-home ?? no ?? I don’t know.. ??)

None of the News Channels has explored this simple question. The answer probably lies buried somewhere between pages ’2,378 and 2,493′ of the bill and is written in technical print no one can decipher and Congress has no clue. Journalists can’t figure it out. (so lets just pass the bill and see … how much it costs YOU – quote Nancy Pelosi)

Let me do my healthcare in India or Taiwan. That should be my constitutional RIGHT !! And I will not cost our healthcare system anything that I cannot pay back if they wrap a bandage for me meantime if I tripped and fell (if I got in a car accident, well, that has its separate coverage, and I would still do any none ER treatment in Singapore or somewhere).

Now if more people would opt for such course .. US HEALTHCARE COSTS WOULD DRAMATICALLY DROP OVERNIGHT. It would be the marketplace at work.

The Catch-22 is more with the financial institution that holds the deposit and writes the ‘letter’ which the DMV keeps on file. They then assign you a depositors no.

Trick here is that bank after bank can turn down this request. And the state of CA requires for the deposit to be with a private bank. (what other kind is there?)

In the case of ‘Obamacare’ I’m sure the Treasury itself could open a little division where they can hold your HEALTHCARE COLLATERAL (but then they will probably insist on bagging their own interest on the deposit to themselves .. when you have DMV Financial Responsibility with private institution interest payments are yours !!)

As far as taxes however; not ONE CENT goes to anything but the interest on the loans the private, foreign owned administration takes from the Reserve.
ALL these bills are created to increase the money supply but, we take loans out and use that money all over the world so, you don’t pay tax for the domestic, odious debt, you pay it for the global (U.S. Corp’s) debt.

Hell yea, there’s more to come but, it’s all coming to a head it seems. Drastic changes need to be implimented to reel the world under control, and fast. It’s about to get real exciting.

Well, it’s definitely not Americanism, and it certainly doesn’t represent the Constitution either ! My answer, throw it out. Leave the system the way it is, insurance will always have money, and don’t listen to their scare tactics, that’s nothing more then a sales-pitch.
A good article. Unfortunately the private sphere has long crept into the social healthcare systems in europe too. Things are nowhere as bad as in the US but nevertheless this strange crippled hybrid where private profit making companies rip off the state by providing poor over priced service has arrived. Thatcher started this trend in the 80s in the UK and Cameron is attempting to let ever more private service (!?) providers into the UK healthcare system. Parts of the police force are also to be privatised so once again blatant possible conflicts of interest are being ignored to do the bidding of lobbyists and continue to deconstruct the state for the benefit of corporations and to the detriment of the citizens. Once embedded these firms, far from competing in a diverse market to offer the most competitive rates, establish monopoly positions which they expoilt in holding services to ransom. The winners are a handful of people at the top, the losers are everyone else.
