The Hungarian Prime Minister has lashed out at billionaire George Soros, criticizing the support he has expressed towards refugees from the Middle East heading to Europe, saying that he undermines stability on the continent.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said that George Soros, an American billionaire and human rights advocate, was responsible for the ongoing refugee crisis. Soros belongs to a group of “activists” that encourages migrants to head to Europe and thus intentionally aggravates the situation, Orban said.
“His name is perhaps the strongest example of those who support anything that weakens nation states, they support everything that changes the traditional European lifestyle,” Orban said in an interview on public radio station Kossuth, according to Bloomberg. “These activists who support immigrants inadvertently become part of this international human-smuggling network.”
Orban has also labeled the deal to share the intake of 120,000 refugees among the EU countries “unfair” and “unreasonable”, adding that these measures can lead to a democratic crisis.

The lion’s share of Islamic State illegal oil exports is conducted through Turkey and Kurdish areas. Although Washington could curb the illegal traffic, it has chosen to focus on other issues, a former CIA officer told the Sputnik news agency.
“It’s a question of priorities. They have never allocated enough resources to do so. Other goals and missions have been rated as having more urgent calls on intelligence and tactical resources,” John Kiriakou, a former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) counterterrorism officer and US Senate Foreign Relations Committee senior investigator, told Sputnik.
He said Islamic State’s (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) oil revenue lifeline could be cut short, if Washington made an effort to do so.
“I do believe that,” Kiriakou stressed.

Israel says it has retroactively “legalized” some 800 units in four settlements in the occupied West Bank.
The decision which came amid heightened tensions between Israelis and Palestinians in the occupied territories had been taken two weeks ago but was reported in the Israeli media on Friday.
The units included 377 in the Yakir settlement, 187 in Itmar and 94 in Shilo in the northern West Bank, as well as 97 more in Sansana in the south of the occupied Palestinian territory, according to the Israeli interior ministry.
The Israeli regime is under fire over its settlement activities. The international community regards as illegal all Israeli settlements which are built on the occupied Palestinian territories and are hence subject to the Geneva Conventions, which forbid construction on occupied lands.
The Israeli regime had also in July authorized 300 new settler homes to be built in Bet El in the central occupied West Bank.

An Israeli military jeep runs over a Palestinian protester north of the city of al-Bireh, near Ramallah, in the central occupied West Bank, as Palestinians step up their protests against Tel Aviv’s violence and provocations.
The Palestinian news agency Ma’an said on Friday that a Palestinian youth was run over by an Israeli military jeep before the injured young man was nabbed by the Israeli forces.
Footage of the incident aired by the al-Aqsa TV showed the military vehicle speeding up at a group of youths who were protesting weeks of Israeli aggression against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
Israeli forces apparently blocked and assaulted medics who were attempting to reach the hit person, the video showed.
A number of other people, including some journalists who were filming the incident, were assaulted and arrested, Ma’an said. Israeli forces also fired tear gas and live bullets, prompting more clashes in the demonstration which started after Friday prayers in Bireh.

Israeli forces have shot and killed two Palestinians in the West Bank city of Nablus after accusing them of staging stabbing attacks.
The two Palestinians were shot and killed by Israeli troops at the Za’atara military checkpoint in southern Nablus on Friday.
Israeli forces claimed that the two Palestinians, who were riding a motorcycle at the time of the incident, attempted to stab Israeli soldiers.
The latest deaths bring to 70 the total number of Palestinians killed since the beginning of this month. Some 7,200 others have been injured.
Tensions in the occupied territories have dramatically escalated in recent weeks, prompting many to believe that a third Intifada (uprising) might be occurring.
For a third day in a row, Israeli forces have raided an East al-Quds (Jerusalem) hospital that has refused to give them information on treated Palestinians.
Thursday saw the Israeli forces striking terror among the medical staff by using rubber-coated steel bullets, smoke grenades, and sound bombs against the compound of the al-Makassed Hospital in the East al-Quds neighborhood of al-Tur.
The staff where observing a sit-in at the time of the attack with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross in protest at the move by the Israeli forces to try to obtain the medical files on the patients, who sustained injuries during clashes in the occupied Palestinian territories.
“It is not our job to give any information about anyone who comes to the hospital or to take any personal information. Our job is only to help them and provide them with medical treatment,” the director general of the hospital, Rafis al-Hussieni, told the Palestinian Ma’an news agency.
Meanwhile, two Palestinians were shot dead by Israeli forces over alleged knife attacks in the city of al-Khalil (Hebron) in the south of the occupied West Bank.

SCHEVENINGEN, Netherlands (JTA) — Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas assured Dutch Jews that he neither intends to abandon the Oslo Accords nor to insist on the absorption of millions of Palestinians into Israel.
“We never said we were going to cancel the Oslo Accords,” Abbas said Friday during a meeting near The Hague with members of the Center for Information and Documentation on Israel, or CIDI, Dutch Jewry’s main pro-Israel advocacy organ and watchdog on anti-Semitism.
“We are not going to cancel, we will not cancel anything,” he added, as long as “Israel respects its obligations.”
On Sept. 30, at U.N. headquarters in New York, Abbas said: “We cannot continue to be bound by these signed agreements with Israel” because “the status quo cannot continue.”

(JTA) — A Palestinian infant reportedly died after inhaling tear gas fired by Israeli soldiers.
According to Haaretz and other media outlets, the Palestinian Health Ministry said 8-month-old Mohammed Faisal Thouabta died from tear gas fired in clashes Friday in Beit Fajjar, a West Bank village south of Bethlehem. Other reports identified the infant as Ramadam Mohammed Thawabteh.
The infant, who officials said was exposed to the tear gas while in his home, was pronounced dead in a Bethlehem hospital, and was the 65th Palestinian killed since the recent wave of violence began — Israel has identified dozens of the Palestinians killed as assailants in stabbing attacks. The death came on a day of numerous clashes throughout Israel and the West Bank, as well as the killing of two Palestinian men who were allegedly trying to stab soldiers.
In a separate development, Israel retroactively legalized 800 homes in four Jewish settlements in the West Bank.

(JTA) — Thirty-eight letters and nine telegrams written by David Ben-Gurion to his lover in the 1930s will be auctioned off with a starting bid of $20,000.
Israel’s Kedem Auction House will auction the Yiddish and Hebrew notes on Dec. 2, the Times of Israel reported.
Ben-Gurion, who declared Israel’s statehood in 1948 and served as its first prime minister, was in his 40s and married to his wife Paula when he corresponded with Rega Klapholz, a 26-year-old Jewish Viennese medical student he met in the early 1930s.

(JTA) — A former senior vice president at AOL has been named the new COO of Hillel International.
Hillel, the global Jewish college campus organization, announced its appointment of business sector veteran Adam Lehman in a statement on Tuesday.
In addition to working at AOL, Lehman was previously the COO of advertising firm GeniusRocket, the founder of Rock Ridge Ventures and the president and COO of software company Lotame Solutions.
“I believe my background can help Hillel continue to transform its brand, infrastructure and operations in order to meet the unique challenges of the 21st century,” Lehman said.

© Israeli Air Force / Flickr Israel is hosting its largest-ever international air force exercise. The two-week ‘Blue Flag’ drill features Israeli, American, Greek and Polish troops in a battle against a fictional enemy state.
The Blue Flag drill consists of Israeli and American F-15 squadrons, as well as Israeli, Hellenic, and Polish F-16 squadrons flying through Israeli airspace while firing simulated weapons against fictional enemy missile launchers, convoys, and aircraft, the Israeli Air Force captain in charge of the exercise told the Times of Israel.

However, the captain said the exercise is designed to test the capabilities of the troops involved, rather than the military equipment itself.
“We wanted it to be challenging for the airmen, rather than for the machines,” said the IAF captain, who could not be named due to security reasons.
