(Scroll down for video) Two men were arrested and charged after a video surfaced on YouTube that showed them attacking a man.

The video of 37 seconds which was uploaded on YouTube was later shown on state television. It showed four masked men approaching the victim on motorcycles and then two of them assaulted him, taking his purse and jacket.

One of the attackers appeared to be wielding a knife or a machete.
The attack caused public outrage and officials pledged to punish those responsible.

Now, Alireza Mafiha and Mohammad Ali Sorouri were hanged early Sunday in the Iranian capital, Tehran, in a public ceremony according to a local television news station in Iran.
They were convicted of “moharebe” or waging war against God, which according to the Iranian interpretation of Islamic law is punishable by death. His sentence was handed down by a revolutionary court in last month.


“The issue of the safety of our people is even more important than bread,” Sadeq Larijani, head of Iran’s judiciary, said in December.

The two other accomplices were sentenced to 10 years in prison and 74 lashes.

Iran stands at one of the highest in the world in the number of annual executions, according to human rights group Amnesty International, which has urged the Islamic Republic to commute more death sentences.
