3 soldiers killed, 7 missing in Pakistan

Security officials say the incident took place late Sunday when unknown gunmen attacked a security checkpoint in Baizai tehsil in Mohmand Agency.

According to officials, seven soldiers are still missing and that the security forces have begun a search operation in the area following the attack.

In another incident in southwestern Balochistan province, militants also destroyed a gas pipeline.

The militants set off a bomb on an 18-inch gas pipeline in Dera Bugti district late on Sunday, suspending gas supplies to the tribal region. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Militants have destroyed dozens of gas pipelines and electricity towers in different parts of Balochistan province in the past few years.

Despite the Pakistani government’s operations against militants and terrorists, they have still been able to spread their influence in various regions of the country and have killed thousands of people.

Over 35,000 Pakistanis have lost their lives in bombings and other militant attacks since 2001 when Pakistan entered an alliance with the US on the so-called war against terrorism, according to local media.

Thousands more have been displaced by the wave of violence and militancy sweeping across the country.
