One of the deer has been hit by car and has had to be euthanised as the animals congregated near the intersection of Parraweena and Taren Point roads in Caringbah.

Police say the deer most likely came from the Royal National Park or a nature reserve at nearby Kurnell.

A trained deer catcher and officers from the RSPCA were sent to the Sutherland Shire on Friday morning.

Motorists are being urged to drive slowly and keep an eye out for deer running out onto the road.
