Far north Queensland councils hit by heavy rain and flooding last month can now access disaster relief assistance.
Community Services Minister David Gibson said the damage bill is still being assessed from the wild weather which struck on March 15.
Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements are now available for Hope Vale Aboriginal Council, Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council, Mapoon Aboriginal Shire Council, Wujul Wujul Aboriginal Shire Council, Aurukun Shire Council, Isaac Regional Council and Tablelands Regional Council.
They councils can now apply for funding for the restoration of essential public assets such as roads and sewerage.
