Prime Minister Julia Gillard will meet with Queensland Premier Campbell Newman on Monday during her week-long blitz of the state.
Ms Gillard and Mr Newman have clashed over the carbon tax, environmental approvals and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
The NDIS is designed to cover the costs of people born with disabilities or who become incapacitated.
The federal government has put aside $1 billion for the NDIS and is calling on the states to contribute a total of $288 million.
Mr Newman said in April a funding agreement for the scheme with the states should have been struck first and it was not a priority for his cash-strapped state.
He also accused the Gillard government of ‘‘coming over the top’’ and delaying major resource and tourism projects in Queensland.
Ms Gillard, Treasurer Wayne Swan and almost all of their cabinet colleagues will be in Ipswich for Tuesday’s Community Cabinet meeting at Redbank Plains State High School.
The prime minister will tour other parts of the state later in the week to galvanise support after a number of polls show Labor will struggle to retain any of its eight federal seats in Queensland at the next election.
