Girl shot in the head with an arrow near Tamworth



A YOUNG girl is recovering in a Sydney hospital after being shot in the head with an arrow near Tamworth on Boxing Day.


The eight-year-old was injured in an incident on a rural property on Corella Road near Manilla.

The circumstances of the shooting are not yet known and police are continuing with their investigations into the incident.

Her injuries were initially reported simply as “head injuries,” but it emerged today that she had been shot with an arrow and was airlifted to the hospital with the projectile still protruding from her head, Channel 10 news reported.

Paramedics were called to the scene at about 7:30pm, the ABC reported.

The arrow reportedly struck the girl above her right eye and she was conveyed to Tamworth Base Hospital for initial treatment.

She was later airlifted to Sydney Children’s Hospital for emergency surgery where she remains in a critical condition.

Police from Barraba seized a bow from the premises and continue with their inquiries into the incident.
