The ocean is probably our only truly global environment, other than our atmosphere, as it crosses all political boundaries and joins us together like no other element on Earth. And an amazing new app, which is helping to raise awareness about ocean conservation, is enabling us all to help co-create a global love letter to the ocean – which will be shown to the world via a live event in Times Square on May 4th.
“People in Times Square and around the world will be able to celebrate the ocean via theBlu app Twitter (#theBlu) to co-create a global love letter to the ocean. Their comments, along with the fish they choose to share, will be shown on a multi-screen live event in Times Square on May 4th between 5pm and 11pm on the NASDAQ and Thomson Reuters video screens.”

If you’d like to show your love and appreciation of the ocean and maybe see it on the big screen in Times Square, simply send out a tweet that looks something like this:
“Dearest ocean, one of the things I love most about you is [what you love here] #theblu”
This event will help kick off the global launch of the incredible theBlu app, which is an innovative web-based interactive app – a digital art exhibit of ocean habitats and species, combining crowdsourced, Wikipedia-like global participation and movie studio production practices to raise awareness of (and funds for) ocean conservation.

If you’re in NYC on May 4th, head down to Times Square between 5pm and 11pm and join Sylvia Earle, Jean Michel Cousteau, the director of The Cove, Louie Psihoyos, and Oscar award animator of Avatar Andy Jones, who will also be in attendance during the live launch that night. And if you’re not, you can still watch the launch live at theBlu Times Square.
