Husband wanted over wife’s shed death

POLICE have launched a murder investigation into the mysterious death of a woman whose husband has disappeared.

The body of Tammy Fishburn, 43, was found by her daughter on Tuesday around 9.30am (AEDT), at Greta, in the NSW Hunter Valley.

Ms Fishburn was found dead on the floor of a shed at the rear of her mother’s property, where she had been living while caring for her parent.

“At this stage I would suggest it’s a homicide investigation,” Detective Inspector Trent King told AAP.

Police have made many attempts to contact her husband, Darren Fishburn, 42, who has not been seen since Monday.

Investigators received reliable information that Mr Fishburn may be in bushland area in the suburb of Wyee, near Lake Macquarie.

“The information we have is quite good that he’s in that area,” Det Insp King said.

Police conducted a ground search of the area on Wednesday, which will continue with hopes of finding Mr Fishburn.

A post mortem examination concluded on Wednesday but final results have yet to confirm the cause of death or if a weapon was used.

Mr Fishburn has no “significant criminal history”, Det Insp King said, and police are not aware if he is carrying any camping equipment.

Mr Fishburn is described as being of Caucasian appearance with a solid build, short brown hair, goatee beard and piercings in both ears.

He may be using a red 1989 model Nissan Patrol with NSW registration YAE-923.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stopppers on 1800 333 000.
