Being such a hot political topic, it’s no surprise that this year’s Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras has a particularly matrimonial, err, ring to it.
Kylie Minogue and other celebrities attend the pre-party ahead of the Mardi Gras in Sydney.

IT was the appearance Sydney’s gay and lesbian community had waited 14 years to see.
So what was the verdict on Kylie Minogue‘s 20-minute performance at Saturday night’s official party?

For those who did manage to get inside the Hordern Pavilion to see the mini-show (only about 4000 were able to squeeze in. The remaining thousands were forced to watch the broadcast from outside), the Singing Budgie seemed to pull off a pretty good show for her beloved gays – some of whom had waited four hours for an up-close, front-row view.
Performing a medley of her mostly old classics, La Minogue arrived on stage with a troupe of dancers at 2am – surprisingly early for a headliner – and opened with Aphrodite before whizzing through Wow, It’s In Your Eyes and Better The Devil You Know before ending with an a capella Locomotion and a remixed version of All The Lovers.
And despite rumours that Minogue was less-than-enthusiastic about the performance, sources say it couldn’t be further from the truth.
“She was really excited about it and was really into it – even during rehearsals,” said a spy.
Meanwhile Minogue started the evening with a few Mardi Gras supporters – including Magda Szubanski and Premier Barry O’Farrell – at Kinselas in Darlinghurst before making her way to the big party.
