Loyal leadership team a priority for new Police Chief Ken Lay

“I am certain that there has been a lack of loyalty by some within the organisation towards their Chief Commissioner over the last few years,” says incoming Police Chief Ken Lay.

He says the recent OPI report exposed some dishonorable practices and he is pleased it was released before starting.

“I feel very comfortable that I’m not starting my Commissionership with those sort of things still not being fully visible,” says the Chief Commissioner.

He says there are at least five senior positions to fill and building that leadership team is his top priority.

“The first thing is to put a very capable and loyal leadership team around me,” says Ken Lay.

“It is very, very important for me that I actually get the right people into those positions,” he says.

Ken Lay speaks to Sally Warhaft on 774 ABC Melbourne Drive.
