Man to face court over woman’s kidnapping

A man is facing a string of charges after he allegedly kidnapped a woman in Brisbane.

A member of the public saw the 19-year-old woman tied up in a car at Spring Hill in Brisbane’s inner-city about 8:30am (AEST) yesterday.

Police say a man then got into the car and drove the woman to Redcliffe, north of Brisbane.

When he stopped she managed to free herself and run away.

The woman flagged down a passing motorist who dropped her at the local police station.

The man turned himself into police in Toowoomba, west of Brisbane, later in the day.

The 25-year-old has been charged with several offences including kidnapping, deprivation of liberty and assault occasioning bodily harm.

He is due to appear in court in Toowoomba tomorrow.
