Family, friends and colleagues have begun gathering in Sydney to celebrate the life of Ian `Turps’ Turpie.
Fellow Aussie entertainers John Burgess and John Young, of Young Talent Time fame, were among the first arrivals at the Magnolia Chapel in Macquarie Park for Turpie’s funeral on Friday.
The 68-year-old former game show host died after a battle with cancer on Sunday.
Young said Turpie was a “great mate” to everyone in show business.
“He had one hell of a full life,” Young told reporters outside the chapel.
“He had a great sense of humour, he always had a spark in his eye and he always made everything special.”
The funeral is expected to begin at 2pm (AEDT) and will include tributes from friends and family.
