If you’re an owner of a G-mail account, Android or have any apps, Google most likely is recording some of your location data.

Data tracing depends on whether you’ve enabled your Google location reporting and location history settings.

Google’s new timeline feature allows police to know personal information about you, including the ability to track your habits over the course of several years and establishments you like to frequent.

“The personal privacy implications are pretty clear but so are the law enforcement applications,” according to the document, titled “Google Timelines: Location Investigations Involving Android Devices,” which outlines the kind of information investigators can now obtain.

If you’d like to see a map of where you have visited you will first need to login to your Google account. Once you have logged in, click the following Google Maps Website to expose your location history.

You can choose to view 1 or 30 days of travel at one time or between a traditional map and satellite view.

If you can’t find anything, you probably haven’t authorized Google or any of its apps to report and record your travel. Here is  step-by-step instructions on how to turn these setting off if you decide you want privacy.
