Police have launched a fresh bid to discover the identity of a man who was hit and killed by a train in Perth more than a decade ago.

The man died instantly after being struck between the Burswood and Victoria Park train stations, 14 years ago today.

Police are still to identify him despite extensive DNA and fingerprint work.

The Missing Persons Unit’s Senior Constable Karen Clarkson says it is a highly unusual case.

“We’re thinking he probably is from over east or overseas because of the media coverage we had here,” she said.

“We don’t have anyone on our books that matches this person.”

The man is described as being between 20 and 40 years old with fair skin, hazel eyes and balding hair.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers.
