POLICE have located an eight-year-old girl who went missing after going on a hunting trip with a convicted child sex offender three days ago.

Danielle Lane, 8, and Augustine Winter Miller, 38, were located alive this afternoon, police said.

Police say Danielle is “seriously unwell”  and will be met in Warburton by a doctor who is being flown from Kalgoorlie by Royal Flying Doctor Service. It is likely she will be flown to hospital in either Kalgoorlie or Alice Springs.

Police raised grave fears for the girl’s safety before PerthNow revealed Mr Miller was convicted of child sex offences in January 2006.

Aerial searches today located a vehicle about 25km from the community about 2pm. Mr Miller and Danielle were found shortly afterwards in dense bushland about 10km from the car – 15km from the remote community.

“At this stage, their conditions are both unknown,” said Det Sen-Sgt Rod Wilde.

“We don’t know their injuries or illnessess due to exposure.”

Det Sen-Sgt Wilde said the police response team, which includes detectives from Kalgoorlie, would administer first aid and the pair would then be taken to the community’s nursing post for a medical examination.

It is understood Danielle is suffering dehydration.

Det Sen-Sgt Wilde said it had been an arduous rescue effort and had taken police several hours to reach the car because the remote area and difficult terrain.

Both Mr Miller and Danielle would be interviewed by police once they were medically fit, police said.

Danielle is the foster daughter of Mr Miller’s de facto partner, who is suffering terminal cancer. It is understood the relationship began several months ago, after Mr Miller was released from prison in April 2011.

A police aircraft and a private plane have conducted aerial searches for Mr Miller and a white Holden Commodore  they were travelling in. A team of detectives from Kalgoorlie  was also flown in to assist the investigation along with Aboriginal trackers .

Mr Miller is a convicted child sex offender who was sentenced to 15 months in jail on January 12, 2006 after a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.
