Police officer denies killing newspaper seller at G20 riots as he appears in court

A Scotland Yard officer denied killing newspaper seller Ian Tomlinson at the G20 protests when he appeared in court today charged with manslaughter.

Mr Tomlinson, a homeless 47-year-old, collapsed and died on the fringes of demonstrations in central London on April 1 2009.

Pc Simon Harwood, a father of two, showed no emotion as he stood in the dock at Southwark Crown Court in south London to enter his ‘not guilty’ plea. Relatives of Mr Tomlinson gasped from the public gallery as Harwood, 40, denied the allegation against him.

‘You are charged on this indictment with manslaughter, that on April 1 2009, you unlawfully killed Ian Tomlinson.

‘How do you plead: guilty or not guilty?’

  1. The cop is guilty and he knows it and he is proud of it.

  2. First rule any good cop would advise somebody arrested whether you did it or not. Keep your mouth shut and do not say anything and deny any charge no matter how obvious it is. This will guaranttee you a lighter sentence because prosecutors do not have the time or the money to do it right.

    People call me a nut and do niot take me seriously when I tell them to defend yourself against cops. You risk permanent death and injury for being a push over. When will the protestors wke up and start fighting back. If the cops know they will get ther ass kicked for making illegal arrest, they will back off.
