A search is under way for a Ukrainian man who fell from a bulk carrier off the NSW north coast.
The tanker Blue Wave was on its way to Newcastle when the 36-year-old worker fell into the water on Saturday night.
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) says several helicopters and a search plane were searching for the man and a NSW Water Police vessel was on its way from Coffs Harbour.
“It is a suspected man overboard,” an AMSA spokesman told AAP.
“There’s nothing particularly bad about the (water) conditions so that’s good.”
It was believed the man could swim but it was not known whether he was wearing a life jacket, the spokesman said.
