Stabbed in Christmas day fight: man charged

A man has allegedly been stabbed in the chest after a fight broke out during Christmas celebrations on the NSW Central Coast, police say.

The 48-year-old remains in hospital with non life-threatening injuries after the altercation, which occurred about 8.30pm yesterday, police said.

He had been drinking with family at Doyalson Street, Morisset, when a fight broke out with another man, who allegedly stabbed him before fleeing, police said.

Officers arrested a 21-year-old man after a brief foot pursuit. He was charged with malicious wounding.

The man was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court today.
