The Afghan security forces were injured when the US-led forces mistook them for militants.
According to the local officials, the security forces were conducting an operation against the Taliban when they came under attack.
The fighting between the militants and security forces claimed the lives of two policemen and two civilians. Thirteen Taliban members were also killed in the battle.
The militants, however, claim that they killed more than 10 Afghan forces during the fire fight.
The US invaded Afghanistan in 2001 under the pretext of combating terrorism and toppling the Taliban regime.
However, insecurity continues to rise across Afghanistan despite the presence of about 130,000 US-led forces in the war-torn country.
The US-led war in Afghanistan, with civilian and military casualties at record high, has become the longest military conflict in American history.
