WASHINGTON (AFP) – The US Justice Department moved Wednesday to block US telecom giant ATT’s $39 billion takeover of T-Mobile, saying it would be anti-competitive.
ATT shares plunged 5.3 percent on Wall Street as the Justice Department said it had filed a lawsuit in US District Court here opposing the mega-merger.
“We are seeking to block this deal in order to maintain a vibrant and competitive marketplace,” Deputy Attorney General James Cole said at a news conference.

“Any way you look at this transaction it is anti-competitive,” added Sharis Pozen, acting assistant attorney general in charge of the Justice Department’s antitrust division.

Something does not souund right, T-Mobile customer now 8 plus, not happy going with ATT.. Have had them before, got screwed.. Hope they do not get controll..

wouldn’t have anything to do with ATT’s plan to bring 5,000 jobs back to America now, would it? seems to be the theme of this administration… stifle growth and block/eliminate jobs. was that the “change” you were anticipating america?
something smells awfully fishy in this deal .att can’t take over t-mobile ask your self why? either the judge can’t be bought or he just wants more money. deal will go through
