An infant girl has suffered shocking head injuries after being attacked by a dog in Melbourne’s southeast on Tuesday night.
Paramedics were called to the child’s home in Ryan Rd, Pakenham at around 7.30pm (AEDT) to find her being comforted by her mother.
Advanced life support paramedic Mike Jevons said they immediately cleaned and dressed the wounds to stop her bleeding and gave her pain relief.
“The four year-old suffered horrific head injuries,” Mr Jevons said.
It’s believed the dog, which has been seized by the Cardinia Council, was a family pet.
The girl was flown to the Royal Children’s Hospital in a serious condition.
