China jails Aus businessman for 13 years

The Department of Foreign Affairs says it’s made clear its strong interest in the case of Australian businessman Matthew Ng, who’s been sentenced to 13 years in a Chinese jail for bribery and embezzlement.

The department says Ng is expected to appeal the sentence.

Ng reportedly told the judge presiding over his case at the Guangzhou Intermediate People’s Court that he had been sacrificed for a larger game.
