Awake Goy JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the same terrorism is driving the attacks in Israel and Paris.
“In Israel, as in France, terrorism is terrorism, and standing behind it is radical Islam and its desire to destroy its victims,” Netanyahu said Sunday at the start of the weekly Cabinet meeting.
The prime minister was referencing the West Bank attack on Friday that killed a father and son, and injured five other family members, as they drove to the Shabbat pre-wedding celebration of the man’s daughter, and the attacks in Paris several hours later that left 129 people dead and injured hundreds.
“The time has come for the world to wake up and unite in order to defeat terrorism. The time has come for countries to condemn terrorism against us to the same degree that they condemn terrorism everywhere else in the world,” Netanyahu said, adding that it would be “proper” for Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas to condemn the attack in Israel in the same way he condemned the attack in France.

A day after the devastating terror attacks in Paris, Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari said his country’s intelligence services had warned governments of three countries, including France, that terrorists had chosen as primary targets.
“Information has been obtained from Iraqi intelligence sources that the countries to be targeted soon are Europe in general, specifically France, as well as America and Iran,” Ibrahim al-Jaafari said on Saturday on the sidelines of Vienna negotiations searching to put an end to the war in Syria.
Al-Jaafari did not go into detail which terrorist organization is posing the threat, but he urged a global response to Islamic State (IS, former ISIL/ISIS), which is currently controlling large areas of Iraq and Syria.
The video with the Iraqi foreign minister’s comments on the terror attacks in France has been published on the Al-Jaafari personal website (in Arabic).

French authorities have identified three terrorists out of seven killed while staging attacks in Paris on Friday. Their relatives have been detained and are being questioned. Unofficial reports suggest one of them was just 15 years old. TrendsFrance terror attacks
Among the identified terrorists who blew themselves up is a French citizen, Omar Ismail Mostefaï (born November 21, 1985). He was raised in Courcouronnes, a poor neighborhood of Paris.
Mostefaï had a criminal record of petty crimes, having been convicted eight times between 2004 and 2010, but never serving jail time.
Although Mostefaï was put on a list of people with a high-risk of radicalization in 2010, he was “never implicated in an investigation or a terrorist association,” AFP cited Paris prosecutor Francois Molins as saying.
Police are now trying to find out whether Mostefaï traveled to Syria last year. The terrorist’s older 34-year-old brother turned himself in to the police when he learnt what his relative had done. His father and four other relatives have been detained and their apartments searched.

The family of four sons and two daughters never suspected that one of them, although known for being involved in petty crimes, had become a terrorist.

One of the suspected Paris attackers, a holder of a Syrian passport found near his body, crossed into Serbia on October 7 seeking asylum, Reuters reports citing the Serbian Interior Ministry.
“One of the suspected terrorists, A.A., who is of interest to French security agencies, was registered on the Presevo border crossing on October 7 this year, where he formally sought asylum,” the ministry said in a statement.
The Presevo border crossing separates Serbia from Macedonia.
“Checks have confirmed that his details match those of the person who on October 3 was identified in Greece. There was no Interpol warrant issued against this person,” the statement added.
Greek authorities said the passport matched one used by a refugee who arrived on the Greek island of Leros on October 3, and then traveled on to Croatia and Austria.

While the events in Paris were unfolding, tensions started to spiral in the northern port town of Calais: a blaze began at the refugee camp known as the Jungle that houses some 6,000 migrants. Many are worried this wasn’t just a coincidence.
Some residents are opting to move out rather than put their loved ones at risk. A local family with three children have recently left their home, a neighbor of theirs told RT’s Polly Boyko.
The man, who didn’t disclose his name, added that he thinks the events in Paris and Calais are parts of the same puzzle.
“The migrants talk a lot on the telephone, they are always communicating. They use the Wi-Fi nearby…I think it’s all connected,” he said.
Many in the northern town, which receives about 100 migrants daily, echo his concerns.

A mass grave with the remains of up to 80 Yazidi women, executed by Islamic State, has been discovered on the edge of Sinjar in Iraq. The UN says abuses against the Yazidi minority, who the jihadists deem devil-worshippers, may constitute an attempted genocide.
Officials found the site of the mass grave of young women enslaved by Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL). They claimed to have witnessed the execution of dozens of Yazidis before managing to escape.
According to a local council member, the grave yet to be excavated, is thought to contain the bodies of 78 women, aged from 40 to around 80.
“It seems that the [IS] terrorist members only wanted young girls to enslave,” Miyasir Hajji told AFP. The jihadists have a reputation for using women as sex slaves – bought, sold and dumped.
The mayor of Sinjar and local Yazidis, who visited the site of the mass grave, told Reuters they saw clumps of hair, bones, money and keys, which they believed belonged to older women from the village of Kocho. The younger women were taken into sexual slavery, while the older ones were taken behind an institute in the Solagh area. Gunfire was heard shortly afterwards, according to locals who survived.
Badr Sleiman Taha, 24, from Kocho said his mother, aunt and grandmother were among those killed behind the institute.

Opposition leader says despite near-daily stabbings, Jewish state currently has a ‘unique opportunity’ for peace

NEW YORK (JTA) – In the mind of Israel’s opposition leader, Labor Party (Zionist Union party) chief Isaac Herzog, the array of threats in the Middle East these days present Israel with a historic opportunity.
Yes, Palestinians are stabbing Israelis daily. Yes, Israel arguably has its most right-wing government since Benjamin Netanyahu’s first term as prime minister, in the late 1990s. Yes, Obama administration officials conceded last week that they have given up on achieving an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal during the remainder of the president’s term, which ends in January 2017.
But in Herzog’s view, the rise of the Islamic State and the threat of a nuclear Iran offer an extraordinary opportunity for a “NATO-like” alliance of Israel and moderate Arab states.
Given their common enemies and interests, Herzog says, the Jewish state can work with Egypt, Jordan, the Gulf states and others to curb the expansion of Iranian power, contain the Islamic State, facilitate intelligence sharing, and propel Israelis and Palestinians back to the negotiating table.
“Despite the fact that we’re in a terror wave of stabbings and throwings of stones and casualties and another painful moment between Jew and Arab in the Holy Land, despite all of that we must look beyond that and take steps that can change the course of history in the region,” Herzog told a group of reporters Wednesday in a meeting in Manhattan organized by the Israel Policy Forum.

A huge fire broke out shortly after midnight at the refugee camp known as the ‘Jungle’ in Calais, France.
The fire is not thought to be related to the horrific terror events in Paris despite unsubstantiated claims that the fire was started by activists angered by the migrants presence in France.
No casualties have been reported from the site, where hundreds of migrants have been living in difficult conditions after making their long and dangerous journey to Europe.
Over 2,500 metres of tents and shelters were burnt down in the fierce blaze which was believed to have been caused by an electrical wire.
French Ambassador to Israel Patrick Maisonnave presided over the rally, which took place Saturday evening in Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square. Maisonnave said France has been targeted in particular for its part in the fight against terrorism and ISIS, and thanked Israel for its support.
“It is a vivid testimony to that fact that France is not alone in this struggle,” he said. “I thank the people and the authorities of this country, Israel, for their flawless support. Democracies do not seek vengance and revenge. They seek justice. The fight against radical Islam is our common struggle.”

WASHINGTON (JTA) — The White House is looking for menorahs with unique stories for its Hanukkah celebration this year.
Matt Nosanchuk, the White House liaison to the Jewish community, on Nov. 11 posted an entry on the White House website soliciting ideas for menorahs, noting it was the first time that the White House was issuing such an appeal.
“We’re looking for a special and unique menorah that tells a story to be part of our candle lighting ceremony,” Nosanchuk wrote. “A story about family, about community, about the long Jewish cultural tradition in the United States, Israel, or around the world.”
The deadline is Nov. 20, and the White House will not cover transport or insurance, and contributing the menorah does not guarantee an invitation to the party. Menorahs not used at the celebration may nonetheless feature on the White House website.

French media report investigators are looking at three brothers, one of whom is on the run, as details emerge about some perpetrators of coordinated terror attacks that killed at least 129; at least two were French nationals living in Belgium.
French police have identified one of the assailants in Friday’s coordinated attacks in Paris as Ismael Omar Mostefai, a 29-year- old French national, and seven of his relatives are being questioned, sources and French media outlets said on Sunday.
New evidence that emerged on Sunday suggested that planning of the attack went beyond France’s borders. Three of the seven suicide bombers killed in the Paris attacks were French citizens, as was at least one of the seven other people arrested in neighboring Belgium suspected of links to the attacks.
According to Le Monde, Investigators are paying particular attention to three French brothers, who are believed to be directly involved in the attacks: two of them rented the vehicles in Belgium and the third has been questioned by Belgian police. AFP quoted a source as saying that one of the brothers died in the attack, another was in Belgian custody, and the third may have been one of the attackers whe blew himself up, but could “possibly” be on the run.

Conference of European Rabbis strongly condemns EU Commission’s decision to label products from Jewish settlements, accusing the continent’s leaders of adopting double standards towards Israel and its neighbors. ATHENS – The Conference of European Rabbis (CER), which unites the Jewish religious leaders of the continent’s main states and cities, slammed the European Union on Wednesday for deciding to label products originating in the West Bank, accusing its leaders of suffering from “new anti-Semitism.”
During a CER Standing Committee meeting in Athens, the rabbis condemned the “miserable move,” which they said stemmed from “hatred of Israel” and accused Europe’s leaders of adopting double standards towards the Jewish state and its neighbors. They wondered why the EU wasn’t labeling products from Iraq and Syria as well.
