Florida Man Beaten After Surrendering |Cop Disables Partner’s Body Cam

Last night on CopBlock radio, we spoke to longtime listener James Butler who is Florida. He shared a video with us that was just recently released to the public by the FBI. In the most severe beating since Kelly Thomas caught on video,  Derrick Price was accused being a ringleader in a drug ring. When the police approached his house, he saw them on a surveillance video he had, and ran. After a short chase, he surrendered and was brutally beaten by 5 officers.

Jesse Alan Terrell, 33, is the fifth deputy to be prosecuted in the case. The other four already have pleaded guilty in federal court. Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies Trevor Wade Fitzgerald,  SWAT Team member Cody Hoppel, and James Louis Amidei,  already pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday to the August 7, 2014, beating.

Ocala.com reports…

Terrell is charged with violating the civil rights of Derrick Price by using excessive force during the arrest. The indictment was announced by Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Vanita Gupta, head of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, and U.S. Attorney A. Lee Bentley III of the Middle District of Florida.

The indictment states that Terrell “repeatedly struck, kneed, and kicked (Price) in the head, neck, and shoulder area, causing bodily injury.”

Terrell faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The State Attorney’s Office on Wednesday released videos that show the violent arrest.

Here is that video…

The video depicts Derrick Price surrendering, laying down with his arms and legs spread eagle. The officer then jump on him and start punching and kicking him in the ribs and face. The second view is of officers body cam. When the beating is done, one officer notices another’s body cam is on and swats it off. The whole time they are beating him, they can be heard shouting “stop resisting!” There it is folks. Not much grey area in this video. When the swarm of bacon retreats from the ass whoopin, Derrick is seen laying in a pool of his own blood.  He is then dragged off to jail. Sickening!

The one officer holding Derrick’s legs is pleading not guilty having done nothing but hold him down. I hope they put these officers under the jail! These officers obviously believe their badges grant them extra rights. This is the culture of the drug war among cops. The drug war means never having to admit you’re an asshole!
