Over 50 percent of Israelis think that Palestinians suspected of carrying out terror activities “should be killed on the spot,” says a new think-tank poll. The hardening stance comes as 6 more Israelis were injured and 2 attackers killed over the weekend. Read more

New shocking data has revealed that “a majority of Jewish Israelis (53%) … said they agreed with the statement that ‘any Palestinian who has perpetrated a terror attack against Jews should be killed on the spot,’” the survey, carried out by the Jerusalem-based Israel Democracy Institute, said.

The extrajudicial killings were supported even after the suspects have been arrested and “no longer pose a threat,” the self-described “non-partisan ‘think-and-do tank’ dedicated to strengthening the foundations of Israeli democracy” said on its website.

The poll involved 600 adults and was carried out over two days in October.

Israeli war planes have launched an attack against a site allegedly belonging to Palestinian resistance movement Hamas in the southern part of the besieged Gaza Strip.

The attack happened in the early hours of Monday with warplanes targeting the city of Khan Yunis in the coastal strip.

So far, no reports of casualties have been released by Israeli forces or Palestinian authorities.

A spokesman for the Israeli military told local media that the raid was in response to a missile attack that hit southern Israel a few hours earlier, which he blamed on Hamas.

According to Israeli media, the alleged rocket triggered warning sirens across southern Israel when it landed in the late hours of Sunday, adding that there were no reports of injuries or damage.

Israeli regime forces have declared several neighborhoods in the northern occupied West Bank city of Qalqiliya as military zones.

According to the Palestinian Authority’s official news agency Wafa, the Israeli military issued an order to turn several parts of the city into a “closed military zone,” prohibiting the Palestinian people from entering.

Local sources said that Israeli forces have also closed major intersections across the region.

This comes after a 50-year-old Israeli man was stabbed and injured in the Nabi Ilyas area of the city on Sunday afternoon. The suspects managed to escape the scene of the stabbing attack.

An Israeli army spokesperson said Israeli forces “are currently searching the area for potential suspects” in the stabbing attack.

Israeli forces have shot dead two Palestinians in the occupied West Bank in their latest acts of violence against Palestinians in the occupied territories.

The first shooting occurred on Sunday near a junction south of the city of Nablus, with Israeli forces claiming that the victim had rammed a group of Israelis with a car, Palestinian Ma’an news agency reported.

According to Israeli media, three Israelis were injured in the incident, while a fourth was shot and injured in the leg. Israeli public radio has said that two of the wounded are in critical condition.

The Palestinian agency, meanwhile, added that Israeli forces shut two checkpoints south of Nablus following the incident. The checkpoints control one of the main routes that link the northern occupied West Bank to the central and southern districts.

Also on Sunday, Israeli soldiers shot and killed a Palestinian woman after alleging that she carried out a knife attack in the West Bank, Palestinian media reported.

Tensions in the occupied territories have dramatically escalated in recent weeks due to Israeli regime’s imposition of restrictions in August on the entry of Palestinian worshipers to the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem).
