A two-year-old girl may have spent up to five days alone with the body of her mother in their southern NSW house.
Police were called to a house in the Wagga Wagga suburb of Ashmont about 3.13pm (AEST) on Friday after neighbours became concerned.
Officers discovered the body of a woman, believed to be aged in her 30s, inside the home.
A two-year-old girl was taken to Wagga Base Hospital in a serious condition, Ambulance media confirmed.
The toddler was suffering from dehydration and may have been alone in the house for up to five days before neighbours alerted police, the ABC reports.
Police say it’s too early to determine if the woman’s death is suspicious.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
