Rudd coy on US military speculation

Australia’s Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd has refused to respond to widespread media reports claiming Australia will give expanded access to American military personnel.

Mr Rudd is attending APEC in Hawaii and holding bilateral meetings with key counterparts from the region, prior to the heads of government summit over the weekend.

US President Barack Obama is to visit Australia for the first time next week and will spend part of his time in Darwin to mark the 60th anniversary of the alliance with Australia.
