A full-blown media firestorm of controversy has erupted over Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump’s proposed ban on Muslims entering the country. Some are comparing him to HITLER! Yesterday, Obama’s Press Secretary Josh Earnest went as far as to say that Trump should be disqualified from the race over his proposal.

But, let’s take a trip down memory lane and take a look at what one of the most beloved DEMOCRAT presidents, Jimmy Carter did and you will see just how hypocritical the liberals really are.

Turns out, former President Jimmy Carter banned Iranians (Muslims) from entering the United States during the Iranian hostage crisis, according to FrontPage Magazine.

Carter booted all Iranian Embassy officials out of our country.

Here’s an excerpt from his April 7, 1980 speech:

The United States of America is breaking diplomatic relations with the Government of Iran. The Secretary of State has informed the Government of Iran that its Embassy and consulates in the United States are to be closed immediately. All Iranian diplomatic and consular officials have been declared persona non grata and must leave this country by midnight tomorrow.

Whoa! Jimmy Carter taking care of business. 

The Secretary of Treasury [State] and the Attorney General will invalidate all visas issued to Iranian citizens for future entry into the United States, effective today. We will not reissue visas, nor will we issue new visas, except for compelling and proven humanitarian reasons or where the national interest of our own country requires. This directive will be interpreted very strictly.

Carter was a hell of a lot better than Hussein. But then again, he’s not a Muslim.

The former peanut farmer didn’t stop there. Check this out.

He went even further by having Iranian students report to immigration centers to have their visas inspected, and if they were found to be in violation, Carter ordered them to be deported out of the country.

And the Supreme Court signed off on Carter’s actions:

Carter orders 50,000 Iranian students in US to report to immigration office with view to deporting those in violation of their visas. On 27 December 1979, US appeals court allows deportation of Iranian students found in violation. (CRS 1981, 38, 71)

In November 1979, the Attorney General had given all Iranian students one month to report to the local immigration office. Around 7,000 were found in violation of their visas. Around 15,000 Iranians were forced to leave the US.

Meanwhile any Iranians entering the US were forced to undergo secondary screening.

Interestingly enough, Carter did this by invoking the Nationality Act of 1952. A law originally opposed by Democrats for its attempt to restrict Communist immigration to the United States.

One of the subsets of the 1952 Act prohibited the entry of, “(11) Aliens who are polygamists or who practice polygamy or advocate the practice of polygamy.”

Boom! That justifies Donald Trump’s plan. But there’s more. There are provisions that further justify Trump’s Muslim ban.

(a) Notwithstanding the provisions of section 405(b) , no person shall hereafter be naturalized as a citizen of the United States-

(4) who advocates or teaches or who is a member of or affiliated with any organization that advocates or teaches (A) the overthrow by force or violence or other unconstitutional means of the Government of the United States or of all forms of law; or (B) the duty, necessity, or propriety of the unlawful assaulting or killing of any officer or officers (either of specific individuals or of officers generally) of the Government of the United States or of any other organized government because of his or their official character; or (C) the unlawful damage, injury, or destruction of property; or (D) sabotage; or

(5) who writes or publishes or causes to be written or published, or who knowingly circulates, distributes, prints, or displays, or knowingly causes to be circulated, distributed, printed, published, or displayed or who knowingly has in his possession for the purpose of circulation, publication, distribution, or display, any written or printed matter, advocating or teaching opposition to all organized government, or advocating (A) the overthrow by force, violence, or other unconstitutional means of the Government of the United States or of all forms of law; or (B) the duty, necessity, or propriety of the unlawful assaulting or killing of any officer or officers (either of specific individuals or of officers generally) of the Government of the United States or of any other organized government, because of his or their official character; or (C) the unlawful damage, injury, or destruction of property; or (D) sabotage; or (E) the economic, international, and governmental doctrines of world communism or the establishment in the United States of a totalitarian dictatorship; or

(6) who is a member of or affiliated with any organization, that writes, circulates, distributes, prints, publishes, or displays, or causes to be written, circulated, distributed, printed, published, or displayed, or that has in its possession for the purpose of circulation, distribution, publication, issue, or display, any written or printed matter of the character described in subparagraph (5).

Sean Brown at Mad World News points out that the glaring difference between the two cases is that while Trump is targeting a toxic supremacist ideology, Carter targeted a nationality. Ideology is a choice, and as such, can be reversed or otherwise changed, where your nationality stays with you forever.

If either plan has racist origins, it’s Carter’s. Beliefs aren’t a race, unless of course you assume all Muslims are Arab, which you would be wrong.

Funny how when the past doesn’t align with the current narrative, the left seems to forget it, isn’t it? One of their own did something worse than what’s being proposed now, even though it seems as if Trump would be able to enact his plan under the law, and there hasn’t been a single word about it.
