US EMBRACES TERRORIST GROUPS LIKE ISIL: PROFESSOR

The United States has embraced terrorist groups like ISIL as its allies, part of an “opportunistic” policy of world domination, according to a writer and professor in Binghamton, New York.

“Washington is still into a military solution in Syria and therefore continues to support ISIS, even though it contradicts their policies in Iraq,” said James Petras, using another acronym for ISIL.

“One has to look at Washington’s overall strategy for world domination; it’s been a very opportunistic policy,” Petras told Press TV on Monday.

Newly declassified US intelligence documents reveal the United States and some of its allies had foreseen and facilitated the rise of the ISIL terrorist group in Syria as a counterweight to the government of President Bashar al-Assad.

The conservative government watchdog group, Judicial Watch, has obtained more than 100 pages of classified documents from the US Department of Defense and State Department through a federal lawsuit.

According to one of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) documents, the West, Persian Gulf countries and Turkey explored “the possibility of establishing a declared or undeclared Salafist principality in eastern Syria” to affect their policies in the region.

“The US’ embrace of ISIS is because they seek to overthrow the government of Bashar al-Assad and therefore were willing to collaborate with Saudi Arabia and Turkey in supplying and financing ISIS in Syria,” Petras noted.

“I think this strategy that Washington has selected, which appears to be incoherent, is a result of its attempt to substitute terrorist groups as their allies,” the professor said.

Observers say that while the US and its allies claim they are fighting against terrorist groups like ISIL, they in f act helped create and train those organizations to wreak havoc the Middle Eastern countries.

The ISIL terrorists, who were initially trained by the CIA in Jordan in 2012 to destabilize the Syrian government, are engaged in crimes against humanity in the areas under their control.
