Victim drives himself to hospital after axe attack in Molong



A MAN has driven himself to hospital after allegedly being attacked by another man with an axe at Molong, in the state’s Central West, this morning.


About 4.45am today, police from Canobolas Local Area Command responded to reports of a domestic-related incident at a house in Molong, about 35km north-west of Orange, reported The Daily Telegraph.

Inquiries revealed a 59-year-old man had allegedly been attacked with an axe at the home during the night; however, he’d already driven himself to Molong Hospital to seek medical help.

He was later transferred in serious but stable condition to Orange Base Hospital for treatment of wounds to his stomach, hip, leg and hand.

A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Orange Police Station, where he is assisting detectives with their inquiries.

Charges are expected to be laid.

Specialist forensics officers are examining the crime scene.
