The blast happened in Kandahar Province’s Argistan district on Thursday, the provincial governor’s spokesman Javid Faisal said.
Also on Thursday, a US-led soldier was killed in an explosion in troubled southern Afghanistan.
NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said in a statement that the soldier died following an improvised explosive device (IED) attack.
IEDs are by far the most lethal weapons the Taliban militants have used against Afghan forces and occupying foreign troops in recent years.
The growing number of military casualties in Afghanistan has intensified opposition in the US and other NATO member states against the protracted war in the country.
