New Mideast in making: Mehmanparast

Referring to US plans for change in the Middle East, Mehmanparast said on Sunday that Washington has many plans for the region which are unrealistic and in most cases have failed, IRNA reported.

The Iranian official added that the rule of the nations over their own destinies and resistance against hostile US and Israeli policies in this regard are among the features of the new Middle East.

Since January last year, revolutions have swept through the Middle East and North Africa, unseating dictators such as the Tunisian Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, the Egyptian Hosni Mubarak, and the Libyan Muammar Gaddafi.

Despite the violent crackdowns, countries such as Yemen and Bahrain have also been engaged in massive near-daily demonstrations against their despotic US-backed rulers.

“The people of our country (Iran) and the people of the region do not place much value on American plots in the region. If the US and its friends leave our region (the Middle East) peace will return to it,” Mehmanparast concluded.
