Woman injured in Sydney unit fire

A woman suffered serious burns and 30 people were evacuated during a unit block fire in Sydney’s north.

Police are investigating the cause of the blaze, which erupted at the building in Christie Street, St Leonards just after midnight (AEDT) on Friday.

One unit was engulfed in flames and adjoining homes filled with smoke.

A female resident was taken to the Royal North Shore Hospital with burns to her chest and arms.

Another woman was treated for smoke inhalation.

Thirty people were evacuated.
