‘Anti-Syria plot actually targets Iran’

In an interview with Press TV on Friday, Dankof, who is a broadcaster for The Ugly Truth Podcast, shed light on the close connections between the so-called Syrian National Council (SNC) and Zionists based in the United States and gave a long list of US politicians and business magnates connected to Basma al-Kudmani, who is a central figure in the leadership of the SNC.

“She [Basma al-Kudmani] is tied up with all of the usual suspects which point in the direction of Zionism, international banking, oil consortiums, and arms dealers, and these are the folks who want to get rid of President Assad in Syria and pave the way for an American and Israeli military intervention against Iran,” Dankof said.

“And one key way of doing that is to remove a key supporter of Iran in the Arab world to exacerbate tensions between Sunni and Shiite Muslims and to basically undercut both Hezbollah in Lebanon and to remove a major supporter of Palestinian resistance against ongoing Israeli occupation,” he added.

That is what the West is trying to accomplish in Syria while US media outlets, like CNN and others, which are being directed by Rupert Murdoch of Fox News, are “telling the American public none of this,” he noted.

He went on to say that Western media outlets are trying to give people the impression that President Bashar al-Assad is virtually “the worst leader in world history” and that “we have to get rid of him at all costs.”

The Western world is thus setting the stage “for another version of what happened in Libya” with direct NATO, US, Israeli, and British involvement “as the prelude to a wider war with Iran,” sought by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the oil companies, the banks, and the arms dealers, Dankof stated.

Pointing to the close relationship between the SNC and the Zionist entity, he said the Syrian National Council people are “working hand in glove with Israel” with the “Sunni [Persian] Gulf States, including Saudi Arabia and Bahrain… with Turkey, and ironically enough, they’re working with al-Qaeda too.”

According to an article on the Antiwar.com website, the United States has no qualms about the presence of al-Qaeda militants and other Sunni extremists in Syria or the fact that they are helping the country’s armed groups in their efforts to overthrow the government of President Assad.

“The evidence is mounting that Syria has become a magnet for Sunni extremists, including those operating under the banner of al-Qaeda,” the website quoted a New York Times report as saying.

The expansion of al-Qaeda’s presence seems to have had no effect on either Washington or its allies in their decision to provide communications gear, military intelligence, and arms to armed groups in Syria.
