2012 BAFTA announces winners

Michel Hazanavicius’s black and white silent movie The Artist took home six awards including best film, best director, best original screenplay, best cinematography, best picture, and best actor for Jean Dujardin.

The Best Actress award was presented to renowned American actress Meryl Streep for her remarkable portrayal of former UK Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher in Iron Lady. This is her second award at the UK’s biggest film competition.

Held by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), the annual event is known as an accurate pointer for Oscar success and the biggest movie bash of the year in the UK. This year’s ceremony was held on February 12.
