Stig Severinsen

(Scroll down for video) A man showed that he can hold his breath for a world record 22 minutes, according to officials of the Guinness World Record.

The next time you are watching a TV program, consider this: A man recently held his breath for nearly the entire duration of this half-hour program.

Stig Severinsen, a world champion diver and breathing expert, captured the Guinness World Record with this incredible feat.

Severinsen however had a little help before going underwater. He inhaled pure oxygen to saturate

his body with oxygen. Despite that, it’s still incredibly impressive.

During the last decade Severinsen has experimented with different methods of apnea to examine its effects on the mind and body. He even wrote a book entitled Breatheology: The Art of Conscious Breathing.

This man has spent his entire life in and around the water, so if you’re waiting for someone to beat his record, do not hold your breath.
