A stabbing incident

A New York police officer was arrested and charged with reporting a false stabbing by two black men, according to court proceedings.

A police officer of the New York City Police Department, who said he was stabbed by an intruder in his home in September, has been charged with falsely reporting an incident.

Rishi Gobin, 34, who was assigned to Station 42 in the Bronx, called 911 on September 12 at 1:09 pm and reported that he had been stabbed in the right side of his torso, after struggling with two men who tried to break into his home in Jamaica after knocking on his door, the criminal indictment states.

Gobin told police investigating the attack that the men asked where his money was then stabbed him and hit him in the head, causing him to fall unconscious, the complaint states.

The officer, who was off duty at the time, described the suspects as two black men dressed in white shirts and white sneakers.

However, the officers assigned within the NYPD Internal Affairs Office obtained video of the house

security system, the complaint states. It shows Gobin entering the house alone just before the attack.

Nobody else can be seen entering into the house before the police who responded to the 911 call Gobin five minutes later, the complaint states. Gobin’s wife also returned home when police arrived.

Gobin was charged with falsifying business records and falsely reporting an incident. He was arraigned Thursday, pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on bail.
