This has become an annual events, and 7-Eleven customers look forward to it. The convenience store also looks forward to it. This gesture generates goodwill among customers. The event has been successful in the past by boosting sales of Slurpees on the day of the giveaway.
Beside getting free Slurpees, customers usually purchase chips or other items to go along with the refreshing icy treat on a summer day. Usually after getting the complimentary Slurpee, some customers wind up buying an extra Slurpee to take home to family members.
In the past, customers were given the smaller 7.11-ounce free Slurpee. However, this year, 7-Eleven is giving away an even bigger Slurpee than in the past. There is a good reason for the extra amount.
The change in size comes because the 7.11-ounce container has no lid. To accommodate those who want a lid, 7-Eleven chose to give the larger cup with a lid. This makes customers happier by getting more of the icy refreshment and a lid as well.
This year 7-Eleven expects to give away roughly 7 million Slurpees on Thursday, July 11, 2013, up from around 4.5 million free Slurpees in 2011. Slurpee sales, meanwhile, may rise as much as 40% on Free Slurpee Day. Sales of hot dogs, beef jerky, and other snacks that pair well with icy drinks will surely soar as well.
Go by you local 7-Eleven today for your free Slurpee. Feel free to pick up other products from the convenience store. You will be happy and so will 7-Eleven.
