Artillery found during home renovation

The bomb squad has been called in to inspect an artillery relic found during renovations to a home in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

A resident of the house in Oberon Street, Coogee raised the alarm about 5.15pm (AEDT) on Monday.

Police say an “artillery device” was found after the floorboards were removed during renovations to the premises.

The bomb squad and other specialist units remain on the scene to assess the device and determine its removal from the home.
