Representatives from the Gladstone Ports Corporation in central Queensland will today front the review panel investigating the environmental impacts from its dredging program.
The Federal Government established the independent scientific review panel earlier this year.
It is leading an investigation requested by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in its damning report on the Great Barrier Reef.
Gladstone Ports Corporation project manager Peter O’Sullivan says the authority has nothing to hide.
“When you come down to the analysis of what’s actually happened on the ground, what are the impacts and what has occurred, what we want to make sure is that when you look at measuring impacts and measuring outcomes that you go back to the science and back to results,” he said.
“Not necessarily to just listening to what people may think or feel without looking at the evidence.”
Mr O’Sullivan says the corporation has plenty of information to share.
“The main emphasis that we want to put to the review panel is to make sure that they’re aware of the full range of scientific evidence that’s been collected around the project,” he said.
“We have over 1,000 bore holes done prior to dredging commencing, daily, weekly, monthly water quality testing, monthly metals testing, monthly seagrass analysis.”
