Big, it seems, is definitely in fashion. According to research firm Strategy Analytics, the most popular smartphone screen size is now 4.5 inches, up from 4.3 inches in 2012.
While that’s impressively large compared to the iPhone 5’s 4-inch display, there are still a lot of devices offering even bigger screen experiences. It’s not entirely clear what factors are driving this increased demand for screen real estate, but the continuing rise of the smartphone as an entertainment consumption device, including second-screen apps, is likely to be a big factor.
While a few of these might veer into the so-called “phablet” category, here’s a list of the some of the top phones we’ve seen with screens bigger than the now “average” 4.5 inches.
